Located in GUILFORD, CONNECTICUT USA, and Noting OUR 34th ANNIVERSARY in 2025 — we are the Connecticut Shoreline’s premier equestrian center — a traditional English-style riding stable with a modern philosophy–anyone can learn to ride our quality SCHOOL HORSES. You will ride in our large outdoor arena next to a spring-fed pond graced by a weeping willow, or in cold or inclement weather, in our Indoor Arena. Friends and family can watch from our amphitheater hillside or in inclement weather gather in our heated observation area.
Remember – This is the place one of the country’s premier equestriennes created — Jill Walter-Robinson — her 60th year in the ring — and she still loves teaching.

What we offer
Apprentice Program
Students can learn to volunteer in the stables one day week by taking and passing our 6 week apprentice course. For kids age 10-16, must be riding at GRS for at least one 10 week series.
GRS Eventing Team
We welcome beginners, those with some experience and advanced riders. Our instructors and top riders form the GRS Eventing Team –they compete in dressage, cross-country and stadium jumping. Six of our twelve school horses event at Beginner Novice level in New England’s USEA Area One.
GRS Schooling Shows
Every year, the Guilford Riding School has several schooling shows where GRS riders can get experience in competitions without all the stress. Our Halloween Horse Show with its costumes class is one of our most popular.

Amazing Instruction
My daughter has been riding here for 2yrs! She does the summer camp, takes lessons once a week and apprentices for Guilford Riding School! She is very devoted to what she does and Jill is an amazing instructor and knows my daughters potential and guides her in her lessons and time at the barn.
Great Experience!
After 30 years I got back in the saddle for the summer session. Jill was a fantastic instructor who taught so much more about horses than just riding. She taught the mechanics of the horse, and how we as riders can train them to be better athletes while training ourselves. The horses were lovely as were the grounds and riding rings.
